Avera Health is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions across our integrated care settings. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, administering therapeutic respiratory treatments, managing ventilators, and educating patients and families on respiratory care. You'll collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team in a culture grounded in hospitality, respect, and stewardship. Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Administer respiratory therapies, including nebulizer treatments and oxygen therapy
  • Set up, manage, and troubleshoot ventilators and non-invasive ventilation
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas sampling and pulse oximetry
  • Implement and adjust respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response/code teams
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management and equipment use
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
  • Maintain and ensure safe operation of respiratory therapy equipment
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
