Director Emergency Services

UF Health in Gainesville, FL seeks a Director Emergency Services to lead clinical and operational excellence across our emergency department. This role oversees patient flow, quality, safety, staffing, and budget performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. The Director will collaborate with medical and administrative leaders to drive evidence-based care, throughput initiatives, and capacity management. Responsibilities include developing strategic plans, mentoring nurse leaders, advancing performance improvement projects, and fostering a culture of teamwork, compassion, and continuous learning aligned with UF Health's mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for emergency services operations and clinical practice
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workforce development for emergency department teams
• Monitor and improve patient flow, throughput, and capacity management
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and capital planning
• Lead quality improvement and performance metrics initiatives
• Collaborate with physician and administrative leaders on service line strategy
• Develop, implement, and update policies, protocols, and evidence-based practices
• Mentor and coach nurse leaders and frontline staff to support professional growth
• Promote a culture of patient-centered care, teamwork, and continuous learning
