Responsibilities
- Dispensing prescription medications to patients and offering expertise in the safe use of prescriptions.
- Reviewing prescriptions to ensure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability for the patient.
- Providing information and advice to patients about drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
- Assessing the strength and purity of medications and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Managing health and wellness screenings and providing immunizations.
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize care.
- Maintaining records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and registries of controlled drugs.
- Educating patients on health promotion, disease prevention and managing chronic conditions.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of dosage forms, drug interactions, pharmacy law and medical ethics.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex issues to patients and staff.
- Detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy and effective problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
