Registered Nurse, Recovery Room

Job Description

Northern Nevada Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse for our Recovery Room to provide high-quality post-anesthesia care. The RN will assess and monitor patients emerging from surgery, manage pain and sedation, support airway and hemodynamic stability, and respond rapidly to changes in condition. Responsibilities include medication and IV administration, detailed documentation, patient and family education, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams. Responsibilities

  • Provide post-anesthesia nursing care and continuous monitoring in the Recovery Room
  • Assess airway, breathing, circulation, pain, and level of consciousness for post-op patients
  • Administer IV fluids, medications, and pain management per provider orders and protocols
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies promptly
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EHREducate patients and families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative team to coordinate safe transitions of care
  • Maintain infection prevention, safety, and quality standards in all aspects of care
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives
