Job Description
Wake Forest Baptist, an 885 bed tertiary care academic medical center, partners closely with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, creating a strong environment for education, innovation, and clinical research. The program is structured to manage the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, from preventive and general cardiology to advanced interventions, heart failure, transplant, structural heart disease, and complex electrophysiology. This academic integration allows physicians to care for some of the most complex cardiac and vascular patients in the region while remaining engaged in teaching and scholarly activity. Programs include advanced heart failure and transplant, congenital heart disease, structural heart interventions, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and vascular and endovascular surgery.
Education and training are cornerstones of the program. The institution maintains long standing, ACGME accredited fellowship programs in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, and advanced practice provider cardiovascular fellowships.
High Point Medical Center, part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, is a key regional hospital serving the Piedmont Triad with a growing focus on advanced cardiovascular care. The medical center is home to the Congdon Heart and Vascular Center, which provides comprehensive cardiology and electrophysiology services, including invasive EP procedures, device management, and complex arrhythmia care.
High Point Medical Center has become an important site for the expansion of outpatient and procedural electrophysiology, supported by dedicated EP lab infrastructure and modern technology. In collaboration with the broader Wake Forest Baptist Heart and Vascular program, physicians at High Point benefit from access to academic resources, subspecialty collaboration, and a well established regional referral base, while practicing in an efficient, community focused environment.

Position Overview
Overall clinical responsibilities are on average 4.5 days total per week plus 0.5 day administrative time
Optional: 4.5 days each week on average of outpatient clinic only
Imaging responsibilities will be individualized based on Section needs and candidate expertise.
Team based care model using provider pods that include MDs and APPs; APPs manage the majority of return patient visits for physicians within the pod.
Robust clinical infrastructure, including Epic, Dragon dictation, and DAX ambient documentation tools.
Inpatient Services
weeks of inpatient service annually, including 8 10 weeks with weekend coverage.
Serving as overseeing attending for an APP led inpatient team; responsibilities include morning rounds, care coordination, and consultative support.
Teaching Service: Oversight of resident teams
CVICU Service: Reserved for non invasive cardiologists with appropriate critical care training and/or experience
Call & Weekend Coverage
Weekday and weekend call shared across NI faculty
On average, one weekend per month (Friday night to Monday morning)
On average, one weeknight every three weeks
Weekend call can be bundled with inpatient service assignments
