Under the direction of the Technical Director of IR/INR, the technologist performs a wide variety of Diagnostic and neuronterventional radiologic procedures in accordance with physician orders. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, skill and the ability to work in close cooperation with members of a team of physicians, nurses and other technical staff. The technologist participates in research projects, inventory management and staff training. Is involved in the evaluation/instruction of new techniques and equipment. The technologist interacts with patients daily and maintains a safe, respectful and comfortable environment for the patient.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:
1.    Technologist assists physicians and follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the performance of all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Follows infection control, sterile technique and contrast media protocols. (essential)
2.    Performs operation of imaging and interventional equipment. Evaluates image quality. (essential)
3.    Knowledge of and responsible for supply inventory, expiration and stocking. Maintains monthly checks for supply expiration, patient database, eyewash and equipment competencies. (essential)
4.    Cooperate and assists with shift coverage and on-call responsibilities. (essential)
5.    Follows departmental guidelines and protocols in the scheduling and documentation of exams (imaging, PACS), maintaining accurate and complete records relative to the examination performed. (essential)
6.    Will maintain a friendly, respectful manner with patients and is responsive to the patient's physical, psychological and social needs. Explains procedures clearly and concisely. Maintains proper hand hygiene. (essential)
7.    Will cooperate and assist with cross-training and orientation of other employees and students. (essential)
8.    May be required to assist with tasks that facilitate the operational flow of the unit. (essential)
9.    Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and to all federal regulations with regard to radiation safety. (essential)
10.    Must be able to wear a lead apron and stand for long periods of time, multitask, work quickly and efficiently. (essential)

Required Qualifications:
1.    Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required.
2.    License MARadTech-Radiography required., and Registration RT ART required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
3.    3-5 years related work experience required.
4.    Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:
1.    Prefer 2 years of Special Procedure, Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath. Lab. experience.
2.    Prefer credentialing with ARRT as a Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) technologist.

5.    Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
6.    Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
7.    Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
8.    Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Age based Competencies:

Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 - over.

Social/Environmental Requirements:
1.    Work requires periods of close attention to work with out interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.
2.    Work requires constant response to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.
3.    Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions

• Daily:  Radiation, Exposure to dust,gas,fumes,steam,chemicals, Protective equipment required(Respirator,earplugs,mask,gloves,eyewear etc).
• Several times a week:  Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or airborne pathogens, Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens.

4.    Health Care Status:  HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.- Health Care Worker Status may vary by department

Sensory Requirements:
Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Monitor Use, Visual monotony, Visual clarity > 20 feet, Visual clarity <3 feet, Hot/Cold, Sharp/Dull, Smell, Conversation, Monitoring Equipment, Telephone, Background Noise.

Physical Requirements:

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.
• This job requires constant Endurance-working up to 5-6 hours without a break, frequent walking, standing, Reaching-above shoulder height, Reaching-below shoulder height, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 lbs, Pull up and/or reposition patient weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance.There may be occasional sitting, bending neck, bending waist, Pushing items weighing up to 10 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 25 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 50 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 75 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to or more than 100 lbs, Push a wheelchair or wheeled bed containing a patient weighing up to 250 pounds, with assistance.Rarely there may be Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 lbs, Pull up and/or reposition patient weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance.

 

 

Pay Range:

$51.45 - $76.45

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
