Job Description

Uvalde Memorial Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality emergency and trauma care while supporting patients and families with compassion, teamwork, and excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to ED patients of all ages within RN scope of practice

  • Perform triage, ongoing assessments, and rapid intervention for emergent conditions

  • Monitor cardiac/hemodynamic status, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond according to protocols (including ACLS standards when applicable)

  • Assist providers with procedures and deliver technical/manual nursing services as needed

  • Coordinate and communicate with the interdisciplinary team to support safe, timely patient care

  • Document accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record (EHR), including history, medications, treatments, and changes in condition

  • Support unit readiness by ensuring supplies, equipment, and environment are maintained appropriately

  • Participate in quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives; serve as a preceptor as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required. Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Current BLS (Healthcare Provider)

  • TNCC within 1 year of hire

  • Basic Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Collection Course within 2 years of hire

  • Prior Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
