  • Schedule: Weekday schedule; four 10-hour shifts. 
  • FTE/Hours: Full-time, 1.0 FTE. 
  • Weekend rotation: Backup weekend coverage once per month, with advance notice. This need has historically been rare. 
  • Call coverage: No call coverage. 

Pay Range:

$51.05 - $76.60

Position Overview 

This full-time Medical Oncology APP role is an inpatient position supporting a collaborative oncology team at LCI. The APP will work closely with attending physicians, fellow APPs, PharmD support, and RN liaison support to care for hospitalized oncology patients, with built-in administrative time for chart preparation, orders, and team communication.

Scope of Practice / What You’ll Do 

  • Manage an inpatient Medical Oncology patient population with an average patient load of 4–8 patients per APP. 

  • Support approximately 3 admissions per provider on shift, with administrative time built in for chart preparation, orders, and interdisciplinary communication. 

  • Collaborate with attending physician leadership and the broader oncology care team to deliver high-quality inpatient oncology care. 

  • No procedures are required for this role. 

Team & Support Structure 

  • Clinical support includes an attending MD, 2–3 APPs, 1 PharmD, and 1 RN Liaison. 

  • The broader group includes approximately 15 physicians and 5 APPs. 

  • Supervising physician will be assigned at hire. 

  • Medical Director / Chief APP leadership: Antoinette Tan and Christine Schlemmer.

Qualifications 

  • Required training/certification: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training/certification. 
  • Licensure: North Carolina licensure required or ability to obtain required NC licensure prior to start. 
  • Privileges: Hospital privileges required at Carolinas Medical Center. 
  • Preferred qualities: Team player, collaborative, flexible, and committed to high-quality patient care. 

Compensation Structure 

  • Competitive full-time compensation structure aligned with APP role requirements and candidate qualifications. 

  • Salary guarantee available. 

  • Sign-on bonus available; amount and earn-off period depend on candidate qualifications and offer details. 

  • No RVU incentive structure for this role.
