On-Call Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Location: 106 Ribaut Rd, Beaufort, SC 29902
Duration: long-term contract


Schedule:

• On-site: Every Wednesday 5 hours per week
• On-call availability: 24/7 (Monday to Sunday)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide comprehensive healthcare services in a correctional healthcare setting. The NP will collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure optimal clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
• Obtain, assess, and document patient (inmate) health histories
• Conduct admission assessments and manage care for acutely ill patients
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Prescribe and manage medications, fluids, nutrition, and respiratory therapies as appropriate
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify care plans as needed
• Document patient progress notes and prepare discharge summaries
• Perform emergency interventions, including resuscitation procedures when required
• Perform advanced clinical procedures, including but not limited to:
o Suprapubic bladder taps
o Percutaneous central venous catheter placement
• Provide infirmary coverage when assigned
• Respond to physician calls and clinical emergencies during scheduled coverage
• Perform minor procedures, including suturing, when necessary
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff and students
• Educate, counsel, and monitor patients regarding treatment plans and overall healthcare management
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and applicable regulations

Qualifications
• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the State of South Carolina
• Current DEA registration (if applicable)
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills
• Experience in correctional, emergency, urgent care, primary care, or acute care settings preferred
• Ability to perform advanced clinical procedures and respond effectively in emergency situations
