This leadership role combines patient care with operational oversight, quality improvement, provider mentorship, and strategic planning within a progressive, community-focused healthcare system serving southern Vermont.

Dates / Schedule
  • Full-time permanent leadership position
  • Combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities
  • Oversight of four primary care sites
  • Phone-only call coverage:
    • 1:11 call ratio
    • Minimal disruption to work-life balance

Job Details / Responsibilities
  • Provide direct outpatient primary care services while maintaining active clinical practice
  • Serve as Medical Director for a:
    • 50-provider multispecialty outpatient primary care group
  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership across multiple practice locations
  • Develop and standardize:
    • Clinical protocols
    • Evidence-based best practices
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Mentor, support, and evaluate:
    • Physicians
    • Advanced practice providers
    • Care teams
  • Collaborate with administrative leadership to improve:
    • Workflow efficiency
    • Scheduling
    • EHR utilization
  • Participate in:
    • Recruitment
    • Onboarding
    • Retention of clinicians
  • Foster interdisciplinary teamwork among:
    • Clinicians
    • Nursing staff
    • Administrative teams
  • Partner with practice managers and leadership on:
    • Operational planning
    • Staffing needs
    • Risk management
    • Complaint review processes
  • Support:
    • Infection control standards
    • Public health initiatives

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
    • Internal Medicine, or
    • Family Medicine
  • Minimum 3 years of ambulatory care experience required
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience required
  • Active Vermont medical license required or ability to obtain
  • Valid Vermont DEA license required
  • DEA certification required prior to start
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required
  • Most recent NPDB Self-Query report within 30 days required at presentation
  • Must disclose visa sponsorship requirements (J1/H1B) during submission
