Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
1. Evaluates referred patients for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms accurately using appropriate tests, measurements, and history.
2. Develops comprehensive treatment plans in conjunction with the patient and/or family and physician which are based on the evaluation results and include the frequency and duration of treatment, long- and short-term goals, and expected functional outcomes.
3. Administers therapeutic techniques appropriate to the patient population and accurately and continuously monitors the patient's response to treatment, modifying the program as needed.
4. Confers with the patient and/or family, referring physician, staff, vendors, or other facilities to facilitate or coordinate care, obtain patient equipment, or assist with discharge planning
5. Adapts communication techniques to the patient population (hearing/vision/cognitive abilities).
6. Documents patient care accurately and in a timely way in the medical record and as needed to facilitate continued care or billing.
7. Assists in orientation, training, and supervision of physical therapist assistants, aides, students, and volunteers assigned to participate in patient care or departmental projects.
8. Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations, and/or review of professional literature.
9. Participates in departmental meetings, projects, and ongoing performance improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A Masters or Doctorate in physical therapy.
2. Current licensure to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare providers.
4. Strong organization and time management skills to independently manage patient caseload.
5. Ability to attend to detail more than 70% of the work time.
Physical Requirements & Environment:
1. Normal hospital and clinic environment.
2. Works in all Physical Therapy areas of the hospital on occasional weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
3. Ability to walk and stand for up to 80% of work time, push and pull heavy weights (including patients) and lift 50 lbs as needed.
4. Ability to lift and transfer patients and guard patients during ambulation.
5. Ability to grasp and perform fine hand manipulation and repetitive hand movements for more than 50% of the time.
6. Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.
7. Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, in patients/materials requiring isolation.
Pay Range:
$39.50 - $55.31The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.
Programs include the number one wound center in the nation, a primary stroke service, and Level III Trauma Center . The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.
The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
