Job Description: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Emergency Medicine
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Position Type: Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) Contract/Coverage
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Position Overview seeking a motivated and skilled Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to join our clinical team. This facility utilizes a unique hybrid model combining high-acuity Emergency Care with a high-volume Fast Track/Urgent Care environment. This is an ideal role for an APP who thrives in a fast-paced setting with strong physician backup and a massive support team of fellow APCs.
Clinical Environment & Staffing Mix Our Isleta facility is designed for provider efficiency and high-quality patient outcomes. We pride ourselves on a collaborative "team-based" approach.
- APC-Heavy Support: Work alongside a large team of 5 6 APCs per day, ensuring manageable patient distributions.
- Physician Collaboration: Two 12-hour physician shifts (7a-7p / 7p-7a) provide constant onsite backup and consultation.
- Patient Inflow: We do not receive ambulances. While we treat high-acuity walk-ins (including GSWs and traumas), the absence of ambulance traffic allows for a more predictable clinical flow.
- Facility Layout: 14-bed ED with a dedicated 4-room/chair Fast Track and two trauma rooms.
The "No Boarding" Advantage One of the primary benefits of working at PresNow Isleta is our behavioral health protocol. We do not have locked psych rooms or long-term psych boarding. APPs perform the medical clearance, and patients are then transferred to the Kaseman ED (our system s dedicated Psych ED). This keeps our beds open and our providers focused on acute medical care.
Duties & Responsibilities - Clinical Care: Manage a variety of cases ranging from minor "Fast Track" complaints to high-acuity walk-in emergencies.
- Medical Screening Exams (MSE): Participate in MSE coverage (flexible 12-hour provider coverage when fully staffed) to ensure rapid triage and patient throughput.
- Documentation: Utilize the DAX AI Scribe system. Our facility is committed to reducing "pajama time" by using AI technology to handle documentation.
- Triage & Flow: Rotate between the Main ED and the Fast Track/Quick Triage (QT) areas.
Schedule & Workflow - Work-Life Balance: We respect your time. In the Main ED, providers generally stop seeing new patients one hour before the shift ends. In the Quick Triage (QT) area, providers stop minutes prior to shift end to ensure charts are completed on time.
- Shift Times: 12-hour shifts; No on-call requirements.
Qualifications - Certification: Current NCCPA (PA) or AANP/ANCC (NP) certification.
- Experience: Previous experience in Emergency Medicine or high-volume Urgent Care is preferred.
- Licensure: Active New Mexico State License and DEA.
- Skills: Proficiency in standard EM procedures (suturing, splinting, I&Ds, and acute stabilization).
