The Birth Center at Anna Jaques Hospital is a 12 bed, LDRP unit serving Newburyport and the surrounding Merrimack Valley. We offer private patient rooms with state of the art technology, working closely with all disciplines and including our relationship with Beth Israel Lahey Health. We have 24/7 obstetrics and anesthesia coverage with a nursing staff of 45. We are a Baby Friendly Designated hospital with a strong focus on patient experience.
The Birth Center Nurse supports the care of mothers and newborns. OB experience strongly preferred. Current Massachusetts Nursing Licensure required, with BSN prepared nurses preferred. Current BLS and NRP required within six-weeks of hire.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
Communicates effectively with patients, families' peers and other members of the healthcare team.
Includes patient, family, and caregivers in all aspects of care while ensuring that all explanations are understandable.
Cares for patients throughout the following phases of care: triage, labor, delivery, recovery, circulate and cesarean sections, postpartum and well newborn care.
Attends deliveries when appropriate. Implements stabilization process according to NRP guidelines.
Responds effectively and professionally in a crisis situation.
Provides resources to assist patients and families with post-discharge needs.
Education Required: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Required:
State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility)
BLS Certification
NRP
Experience: 2 years of LDRP experience strongly preferred
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications Preferred: BSN
Per diem status: Candidates able to provide level 2-3 commitment will be preferred.

Pay Range:
$36.93 - $80.96This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Anna Jaques Hospital is a 123 bed community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in the Merrimack Valley . The hospital offers a wide range of acute care services to meet the needs of our growing patient population including inpatient and outpatient surgery in fully digitized computerized operating room suites, cardiology including echocardiography and a cardiac cath lab, comprehensive cancer services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine, laboratory, noninvasive vascular lab, joint replacement program and birth center.
Programs include the number one wound center in the nation, a primary stroke service, and Level III Trauma Center . Diagnostic imaging services for patients include MRI, CT, PET, and the PACS digital x-ray system. In addition, we are one of only three healthcare communities to be selected for the pilot Massachusetts e-Health Collaborative. Due to the dedication of our physicians, we are one of the first communities in Massachusetts to implement electronic health records, system-wide, for the safety of our patients.

The hospitals Non Invasive Vascular laboratory was accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).
For the second year in a row, the American Association for Respiratory Care awarded the hospital its Quality Respiratory Care Recognition. The hospital had no ventilator acquired pneumonia cases during the last year.
The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is the only such center to receive full accreditation from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) in Massachusetts .
