Emergency Medicine Physician Needed Central Pennsylvania

Night Shift Coverage April 2026 Start

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking Emergency Medicine MDs/DOs for night shift coverage across multiple Emergency Departments in Central Pennsylvania, beginning April 27, 2026.

This opportunity is best suited for experienced EM physicians who are comfortable with full-scope emergency care, flexible scheduling, and night coverage in well-established community hospitals.

Assignment Overview
  • Start Date: April 27, 2026

  • Coverage Type: Night shift coverage

  • Setting: Inpatient Emergency Departments

  • Rate: $300/hour

  • Travel Covered: Mileage, lodging, rental car & fuel, ground transportation, parking

  • Candidates must be local enough to drive in

Site & Schedule Details
  • Coverage across two Emergency Departments in the region

  • One site features a higher-volume ED ( 45K visits / 53 beds) with 10-hour shifts and variable start times

  • The second site is a lower-volume ED ( 19K visits / 27 beds) with 12-hour shifts

  • Shifts include overnight coverage; candidates must be willing to work nights

  • Occasional mid-level coverage times may be requested if needed

Clinical Scope
  • Patient population ranges from pediatrics through geriatrics

  • Acute, emergent, and trauma cases

  • Full procedural scope including:

    • Intubations

    • Chest tubes

    • Central lines

    • Joint & fracture reductions

    • Joint aspirations

    • Laceration repair

    • I&D

    • Other procedures within the scope of an EM residency-trained physician

EMR
  • Cerner (with transition to Epic underway)

Requirements
  • Completed Emergency Medicine Residency

  • Board Certified ABEM or Osteopathic EM (or truly Board Eligible)

  • Stroke Certified

  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Medicine experience

  • ATLS / ACLS / BLS / PALS not required if board certification standards are met

  • Willingness to work night shifts only
