Physical Therapist - Travel Contract

Job Description

Looking for a change of scenery and a chance to help others. Join a traveling Physical Therapist role in Largo, MD, working in a home health environment. Provide patient evaluations and therapeutic services according to physician orders. Supervise and evaluate Physical Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides as assigned. Perform home visits, evaluate home environments, coordinate discharge plans, and participate in in-service education programs. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and agency-required liability insurance are required for home health visits.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA or relevant accrediting body.
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice physical therapy in the state of assignment (MD) required to start the assignment.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC may be required.
  • Experience performing patient evaluations and providing skilled physical therapy in home health settings preferred.
  • Experience supervising or delegating to PTAs and home health aides preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation, e-mail, and basic computer navigation required.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and agency-required liability insurance required for home visits.
  • State-specific compliance requirements must be met for any state regulations applicable to the assignment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of physical therapy experience preferred.
  • Previous home health or community-based therapy experience preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Shift: Evenings, 5x8
  • Position requires home visits within the assigned service area and the ability to evaluate and recommend home environment adaptations.

Impacting Patient Care Nationwide

Deliver skilled physical therapy in accordance with physician plans of care. Provide treatment, assist physicians in evaluating function, develop and update plans of treatment, document and report patient condition, instruct family and agency personnel, and coordinate discharge planning. Provide supervision of PTAs consistent with state regulations and agency policy.
