Our client, a leading healthcare provider dedicated to delivering exceptional neonatal and newborn care in a prominent medical facility in New York City, is hiring a Physician Assistant - Neonatology & Newborn Division. As a vital member of our Neonatology and Newborn Services, you will provide expert clinical support in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, ensuring high-quality care from admission through discharge. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial patient histories and physical examinations of newborns.
  • Initiate, document, and communicate comprehensive care plans.
  • Perform daily rounds on newly admitted and ongoing patients in the nursery.
  • Write and manage orders for medications, labs, and diagnostic tests.
  • Interpret laboratory and diagnostic results to inform treatment decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with attending neonatologists, pediatric residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to deliver optimal patient care.
  • Prepare discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals; educate families on post-discharge care.
  • Support delivery room coverage and assist in neonatal resuscitation as needed.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and research initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA recognized).
  • Current NYS Physician Assistant license with registration and prescription privileges.
  • NCCPA certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • At least 1 year Prior experience in Neonatology or NICU environment is a MUST. (Clinical rotations do not count as experience)
  • Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00 am - 7:00 pm) on an average of three shifts per week.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving clinical demands and participate in occasional night or weekend shifts in the NICU.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement processes and research methodologies.
  • At least one year of NICU or nursery experience is ideal but not mandatory for new graduates with relevant clinical rotations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to neonatal care and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification renewals.
