Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 60 months of Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• 12 months of travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

• 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: - Charge and/or precepting experience required; travelers may be asked to precept or do charge based on unit needs and comfort level. - Must be comfortable with basic dysrhythmia interpretation and verifying telemetry strip interpretation.

Special Requests: - Can only apply to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system. - Driver’s license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility. - Previous permanent employees must be away from the facility for 2 years. - Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must be away from the facility for 2 years. - Travel teams must be submitted together. - Block scheduling may be available depending on unit needs.

Unit Details: - Patient population includes telemetry, post-catheterization, medical/surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring, and patients with respiratory difficulty. - Uses AccuChek glucometer for POCT with barcode scanning. - Dedicated charge nurse supports the unit when staffing allows. - Monitor techs centrally monitor telemetry and notify the assigned nurse of issues. - Nurses reconstitute antibiotics, manage titrating heparin drips for telemetry patients, place IVs, and may draw labs from central lines with an order. - No ventilators on the unit; uses nearly all other oxygen delivery methods. Nurses may administer nebulizer/breathing treatments.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend required; for night shift, the weekend is Friday/Saturday. - Every other holiday required: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. - No on-call. - Travelers may self-schedule. - May pick up shifts outside their normally assigned shift, but will not be required to work a different shift.

Floating Requirements: - Floating may occur to comparable or lower level units, including telemetry or med/surg. Occasionally staff may help with admitted boarded patients in the emergency department or floor/tele patients housed in the ICU.

7 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 2 years

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
