Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in St. Petersburg, FL

Job Description

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in St. Petersburg, Florida. This full-time position offers a stable, rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. The COTA will work under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to support patient treatment and help individuals improve independence in daily living.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist OTs in implementing individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises and ADL training to restore function and improve independence.
  • Support patients with mobility, coordination, and fine motor skill development utilizing adaptive equipment as needed.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, home programs, and adaptive strategies.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, communicate updates to the supervising OT, and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including OTs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical, legal, and facility policies related to patient care and documentation.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from a CAPTE-accredited program.
  • Current NBCOT certification and active Florida OTA license.
  • CPR certification (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment:
  • Full-time position with consistent, predictable scheduling (40 hours per week).
  • Potential work settings include hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, or home health.
