Job Description

We're hiring a licensed pharmacist for a contract position where you will use clinical expertise to ensure safe and thoughtful distribution of medications to patients across an acute care hospital setting. This role supports inpatient services including NICU, PICU, and pediatrics, and requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based medication use and safety practices. Minimum Requirements:

  • Current pharmacist licensure in Florida.
  • PharmD or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
  • Recent acute care hospital experience. Must have hospital experience.
  • Experience with Meditech documentation systems and Pyxis ES cabinets preferred.
  • Skills in pharmaceutical calculations, pharmacokinetic dosing of aminoglycosides and vancomycin, and TPN calculations preferred.
  • Ability to accurately check pediatric oral and intravenous solutions preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Pyxis issues preferred.
  • BLS required or ability to obtain upon hire. ACLS helpful but not required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICU, PICU, or pediatric experience a plus.
  • Experience preparing sterile and parenteral nutrition preparations following USP 797 & 800 guidelines preferred.
  • Experience with IV to PO conversions, antimicrobial stewardship, anticoagulation dosing, and pharmacy-directed dosing preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Shift hours: 20:00-06:30.
  • Schedule structure: 10-hour shifts, rotating weekends, 40 hours per week.
  • Staffing model: 24/7 coverage, including holidays.

Impacting Patient Care

The clinical pharmacist practices with a code of ethics and the organization’s mission and values. Responsibilities include verifying CPOE orders, preparing and dispensing medications including sterile and parenteral nutrition preparations, participating in drug therapy management protocols (pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation, IV to PO, pain management, antimicrobial stewardship), issuing and monitoring controlled substances per law and policy, detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors, and supervising pharmacy support personnel. The role emphasizes medication safety, regulatory adherence, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
