Neonatology Coverage Opportunity Level III NICU Michigan
A leading healthcare facility in Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified Neonatologist for ongoing coverage in a busy Level III NICU and Special Care Nursery setting. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative neonatal team and provide critical care support in a high-acuity environment.
Coverage Dates:
July 1, 2026 July 1, 2027
Position Highlights:
• Practice in a Level III NICU within a Level I Trauma Center
• Day shifts plus night/weekend home call coverage
• Providers must be able to arrive onsite within 30 minutes when called in
• Collaborative multidisciplinary neonatal care team
• EPIC EMR system
Patient Population:
• Neonatal and NICU newborn patients
• Average daily census: 31 patients
• Approximately 3 admissions per day
• 47-bed unit including NICU and Special Care Nursery beds
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections
• Manage ventilator support including BiPAP/CPAP, oscillator ventilation, and Nitric Oxide (iNO)
• Perform advanced neonatal procedures including:
• Chest tube insertion
• Central and arterial line placement
• PA catheter insertion
• Umbilical Venous Catheterization (UVC)
• Umbilical Artery Catheterization (UAC)
• PICC placement
• Participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency response
• Potential supervision of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
• Complete documentation using EPIC EMR
Support Team Includes:
• NICU Nurse Manager
• Operations Manager
• Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
• PT/OT specialists
• Dieticians
• Child Life Specialists
• Experienced NICU nursing staff
Additional Details:
• Call ratio: 1:4
• Shift schedule currently flexible due to staffing needs
• Open Bay NICU setting
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 120+ days
