Join our Middletown Emergency Department as an Assistant Nurse Manager, where you’ll partner closely with the Nurse Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for clinical nursing practice. In this role, you will help ensure the delivery of high‑quality, efficient, and compassionate care to all patients and families. This position shares 24/7 responsibility for the daily operations and performance of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nurse Manager with overall administrative and clinical leadership of the unit.
  • Share 24-hour accountability for daily operations and patient care outcomes.
  • Directly supervise nursing and technical staff, including:
    • Assessing staff competency
    • Managing daily staffing and scheduling
    • Evaluating performance and addressing performance concerns
  • Participate in hiring, promotions, salary decisions, and terminations.
  • Serve as a highly visible and transparent role model, promoting professional growth and supporting organizational goals.
  • Assist in facilitating nursing orientation and nursing education. Identify opportunities to enhance staff knowledge, professionalism, and unit performance.
  • Mentor and support staff at all levels, fostering engagement and development.
  • Identify emerging leaders and participate in succession planning.
  • Analyze administrative and operational processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (Master’s required within 5 years)
  • Current RN licensure
  • Emergency Department experience required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant clinical and leadership experience
  • Certifications:
    • Required: ACLS & PALS
    • Strongly Preferred: TNCC & ENPC
    • NRP and STABLE required within 6 months of hire
  • Current related board specialty certification required

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • ANM works primarily off shift hours with an opportunity to choose between 8- and 10-hour schedules.
  • Schedule may adjust based on departmental needs

Hourly Pay Range: $52.97 - $84.75

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
