JOB SUMMARY
The Microcomputer Analyst I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting microcomputer application development and the identification and resolution of application and interface issues including designing, coding, testing, implementing, documenting, and monitoring solutions to support application and interface stability and availability. This role collaborates with the Programming Analyst Team Lead, Microcomputer Analyst II, leadership, and vendors to proactively identify and escalate opportunities for system improvement and to ensure successful implementations and upgrades.
JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Takes responsibility for implementing, documenting, designing, coding, testing, maintaining applications and data interfaces of any complexity in a multi-vendor/multi-development environment.
  • Acts as a functional and/or technical analyst in application & interface development.
  • Assists in research and identifies root causes and resolutions for application & interface issues.
  • Provides information to leadership and colleagues with recommendations to improve the functionality of system and any additional related components.
  • Escalates system issues with leadership as necessary.
  • Develops, modifies and tests moderately complex application & interfaces to improve efficiency of business operations.
  • Follows operational processes to assure application & interface stability and availability.
  • Provides on-call support for applications & interfaces, ensuring 24x7 support.
  • Tests any changes to system in test environment and works collaboratively with leadership & colleagues to ensure changes are moved to live environment in a coordinated manner, utilizing defined change management process.
  • Ensures appropriate application downtime procedures are communicated.
  • Works with the vendor to ensure appropriate installation of new applications, updates, interfaces, and upgrades.
  • Works closely with leadership to ensure successful implementations & upgrades.
  • Designs, writes, tests and implements applications & interfaces between third party vendor applications.
  • Coordinates the design, development, evaluations, implementation, and monitoring of application & interface requirements and technology that support the sharing of information to support clinical, financial, general business, and integration operations.
  • Maintains appropriate knowledge of all systems in order to understand development & interface needs, including domain knowledge.
  • Reads and interprets different programming languages and scripts.
  • May utilize tools to effectively monitor interface stability, manipulate and transfer data between systems, and proactively detect problems with processes/programs.
  • Supports current live applications & interfaces. Monitor application & interface error logs and queues.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.



    QUALIFICATIONS


    Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science. Required
  • Associate's Degree willing to consider 4 years of computer science experience in lieu of a Bachelor degree beyond the required minimum.. Required

    Work Experience
  • 1-3 years. Experience or exposure to software development environments including Microsoft Visual Studio, Oracle, SQL Server, or other structured programming language. Required
  • 1-3 years. Experience within healthcare. Preferred

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and practice in programming and/or interface development.
  • Must take on primary accountability for evaluating, designing, and implementing Microcomputer systems applications, and interfaces to systems for all facilities of NMHS.
  • Must project a good image of NMHS to vendors and suppliers of Microcomputer systems.
  • Must interact with employees and management.
  • Must assist in negotiating equitable solutions to departmental computer system requirements.
