Job Description

Nursing Care:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care
  • Documentation of clinical findings and nursing interventions to patients
    Consultant:
  • Provide clinical expertise to patients and nursing personnel on Hematology Oncology issues
  • Serves as an expert in developing standards of care and practice for Hematology Oncology
  • Reviews/assures nursing documentation for accuracy
    Leadership/Supervision:
  • Effectively lead nursing staff , carrying out patient’s plan of care by direct patient care and case conferencing
  • Coordinate/communicate with all areas of department to deliver seamless patient care
  • Develop and implement quality performance improvement opportunities
  • Provide leadership in the development and correct use of electronic medical records (internal and external)
    Education:
  • Educate clinical staff; orients new employees to clinic
  • Educates patients, families, and community based identified needs (health promotion, early detection, disease prevention)
    Liaison:
  • Facilitates communication and appropriate follow-up between Hematology Oncology and all other providers of care as needed, such as: Social Services, Home Health, Hospice, Dietary, Lymphedema Program, and other points of care
  • Provide quality care to both patients and their families
  • Participates on interdisciplinary teams
  • Enlists services to meet patient’s special needs, e.g. DME, speech therapy, etc.
  • Responsible for daily reconciliation of appropriate clinical charges and ensuring accurate/complete charges and procedures are captured as related to nursing care
    Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in in a clinical field, Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Must be licensed RN in the State of Mississippi
  • Minimum two years clinical experience
  • Must have prior knowledge and experience in area of supervision (3-5 years preferred)
  • Must meet continuing education requirements
  • Must maintain knowledge and resources necessary to provide age appropriate care
  • Must maintain current knowledge of nursing standards of practice, regulatory and accrediting agencies
