Job Description

JOB SUMMARY The Float Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in various clinic settings, examining and treating a range of illnesses and injuries, performing diagnostic tests, and offering patient education. This position requires adaptability to different clinic environments and schedules as directed by the Float Pool Manager. The Float Nurse Practitioner must possess strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate with physicians across diverse clinical scenarios. JOB FUNCTIONS Patient Care:
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the clinic setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, national standards of practice and as directed by the physician preceptor.
Patient Education:
  • Provides patients/families with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness. Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.
Documentation:
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures and medications prescribed.
Continuing Education:
  • Ensures clinical competence and stays abreast of changes in medical management by participating in a variety of health care education activitie.
