Patient Care Technician - Infusion

Job Description

In the Patient Care Technician role, you will play a key role in the department and will be responsible for assisting in the care of hospital patients, under direction of a Registered Nurse and medical staff.

Island Health is looking for an experienced Patient Care Technician for the Infusion team at our hospital in Anacortes, WA.

  • Location: Anacortes, WA, Onsite
  • Schedule:2 FTE / Part Time / Days
  • Salary: $21.12/hr - $30.75/hr
    • Night Differential - $2.25
    • Evening Differential - $1.65
    • Weekend Differential - $1.50

What you will be doing day-to-day:

  • Works under direction of the lead OPD/PACU RN
  • Transports patients to rooms/ treatment rooms
  • Takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration rates, glucose levels and food and liquid intake and output, as directed. Reports unusual finding to nurse.
  • Answers call lights and bells to determine patients' needs. Assists patients as needed
  • Changes linens, tidies and cleans patient care areas as needed.
  • Cleans, stocks equipment and/or supplies and instruments.
  • Maintains Supply and Inventory in stocking rooms
  • Answers phone and takes messages
  • Prints out and organizes/ assembles patient charts on admission, placing latest test, procedures and H&P on chart.
  • Obtains previous chart records from other facilities if needed.
  • Checks for completeness of patient record including consent, test results, transfer agreements, signatures, etc.
  • Verifies discharge sheet against admission sheet for accuracy and return of valuables such as glasses, hearing aids and items stored in safe.
  • Takes specimens to lab; directs patients/visitors.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course of study required.
  • Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant registration required.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Competency with Point of Care testing.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Experience working in a busy clinical setting with changing priorities preferred.
