CHAPLAIN I - PASTORAL CARE

Job Description

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree preferred. One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred. Acceptable equivalents include a degree in psychology or counseling or 5 years of relevant ministry experience. Certification by an appropriate clinical pastoral agency preferred. Membership with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains desirable or other Associations of Professional Chaplains, Clinical Pastoral Education is preferred, bilingual skills to communicate in multiple languages preferred.
    • Experience
      • Two to three years’ experience in a hospital/Hospice setting preferred. Solid communication and relational skills and ability to interact positively with a diverse audience. For Catholic Priests/Catholic Deacons explicit approval or confirmation of the local bishop in collaboration with the administration of the institution. (ERD #21)
    • Physical
      • Normal Hospital environment. Normal/corrected eyesight. Hearing within normal range. Frequent walking.
  • JOB SUMMARY
      • An individual responsible for providing spiritual care with hospital philosophy, mission statement and objectives. Typically reports to the Director of the department. This position does not require certification.
