| Physical Requirements | This position requires regularly standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; intermittently lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing over 50 pounds, and standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and occasionally sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and working in confined spaces. Also involves some job-related travel (less than 10% of time); exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people. |

| Job Summary | The paramedic will work a mixture of being on UK ambulances and in both UK Chandler and Good Samaritan emergency departments. Ambulance duties associated with this role will include responding to emergency calls on the UK medical campus, conducting long and short distance interfacility ambulance transports, specialty transports using ventilators, IV pumps, and other equipment. Duties will also include daily operational needs such as checking equipment, ambulance maintenance, etc. Paramedics will complement the nursing role in the emergency department, working within the Kentucky scope of practice, administering medications, charting, monitoring patients, and performing other patient care tasks. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | The ideal candidate will have clinical care experience, including monitoring vital signs; inserting IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters; assisting with 12 lead EKGs; assisting with wound care; assisting with suctioning; and completing proper documentation. |

| Preferred Education/Experience | High School diploma or higher and three years of paramedic experience preferred. Current Kentucky Paramedic certification or licensure, and Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT), American Heart Association (BLS), ACLS, and PALS certifications required. |
