Staffing Coordinator

Job Description

In the Staffing Coordinator role, you will play a key role in the department and will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining daily staffing coverage to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across assigned departments. This role partners closely with nursing leadership, department managers, and HR to manage schedules, fill staffing gaps, support timekeeping accuracy, and promote appropriate use of overtime, float staff, and supplemental labor.

Location: Anacortes, WA, Onsite
Schedule: 1.0 FTE / Full Time / Days
Salary: $21.44/hr - $32.16/hr

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinates daily and future staffing coverage based on census, acuity, and staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
  • Monitors schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and high-volume periods.
  • Identifies staffing gaps and partners with leaders to fill shifts using internal staff, float pools, or approved supplemental resources.
  • Communicates staffing changes promptly to leaders and affected employees.
  • Tracks overtime, premium pay, and call-outs to support labor management, budget alignment, and compliance with staffing policies and labor requirements.
  • Supports scheduling and timekeeping systems, assists with schedule adjustments and timekeeping questions, and reviews schedules for accuracy prior to payroll.
  • Serves as a central point of contact for staffing-related issues, collaborating with department leaders, HR, and payroll, and identifies opportunities to improve staffing efficiency, processes, and reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve staffing efficiency, scheduling practices, and communication workflows.
  • Assists with staffing audits, reports, and special projects as assigned.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize rapidly changing needs.
  • Working knowledge of staffing models, overtime management, and labor utilization.
  • Ability to interpret schedules, staffing grids, and basic labor reports.
  • Proficiency with scheduling and timekeeping systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Your Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of scheduling, staffing, or workforce coordination experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations strongly preferred.
