RN-ICU JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent will coordinate and provide nursing care for patients; participate in patient/family teaching. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
The primary patients provided care on the ICU are adults and geriatric patients who have a medical or surgical condition which requires specialized care and close observation. The Staff ICU Nurse must be competent in the assessment of young adult to geriatric patients for appropriate behavior, motor skills and psychological norms. He/she must be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical. The ICU Nurse must be knowledgeable in the use of the ICU equipment and monitoring devices.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current active California RN license. Minimum of 1 year acute care hospital experience. Prefer a minimum of 1 year of DOU or ICU experience. Graduate from a school of nursing with diploma, associate degree, or BSN. BLS, ACLS, Cardiac Arrhythmia class & NIHSS Stroke Scale certifications required upon hire. Critical Care course must be attained within 6 months. Electronic Medical Records experience; working knowledge of McKesson preferred. Computer-literate (working knowledge of Word and Excel).
