Step Down Registered Nurses (RNs) provide vital intermediate care for patients transitioning from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to general medical units, ensuring continuous assessment and tailored interventions. Their role encompasses direct patient care, encompassing medication administration, treatments, and comprehensive nursing assessments, all while collaborating closely with healthcare teams across departments to ensure a holistic care approach. Challenges include managing the fluctuating health statuses of patients in a fast-paced environment and adapting quickly to meet their evolving needs. Furthermore, RNs in this position are responsible for maintaining meticulous records and providing education and support to patients and their families. Leadership and teamwork are essential, as these nurses guide and supervise other nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes.
Must have ICU experience or Stepdown/Progressive or Intermediate Care Experience.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CRMC is where our most critical patients receive round-the-clock, high-stakes care, and where a team of exceptional professionals come together to fight for every chance at recovery. Here, you’ll be part of a team that thrives under pressure while never losing sight of the individuals behind the monitors. In this department, you are surrounded by people who don’t just show up for a shift — they show up for each other and for the lives that depend on them. Leadership supports innovation, continuous learning, and new ideas that improve both patient outcomes and team resilience. If you’re looking for a career where your skills will be sharpened, your heart will be tested, and your impact will be immeasurable, the ICU at CRMC is where you belong.
While the medical campus is in Crosby, Minnesota, CRMC draws market share from a much broader region in Central Minnesota. With 25 operating beds and $120 million in net patient revenues, CRMC has established itself as a key asset in the beautiful lake country of eastern Crow Wing County. CRMC has strategically partnered with health systems and institutions in Minnesota to provide a broad array of services that are not typically provided by critical access hospitals and has numerous branded service lines.
This healthcare system is a testimony to the positive, can-do spirit of its leadership, physicians, and staff. Working together, looking for ways to make things happen, they have established an integrated, 40-acre campus with a state-of-the-art hospital with technologically advanced surgical suites, advanced life support ambulance service, senior housing, and a long-term care facility. There are also three additional physician clinics in Baxter, Breezy Point and Longville. CRMC has 1,020 employees and an active medical staff of over 60 physicians and 23 advanced practice providers, which includes 15 surgeons and 45 primary care providers. More than 8,500 surgeries are performed annually at CRMC. The organization has a strong balance sheet with a solid operating margin and is the largest employer on the Cuyuna Range and the second largest employer in Crow Wing County. CRMC has been recognized nationally, regionally, and in the state for its excellence. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission Accreditation; The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons; and by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation.
