The University Hospital Neuro-Intensive Care Physician Assistant (PA) provides direct patient care services for neurologically critically ill complex (multi-organ) patients in an intensive care setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Neuro ICU attending physicians. The PA performs physical exams, collects, and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care and discharge of patients, and provides direct patient care services. The PA contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field. Graduation from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). New Jersey license from the State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Advisory Committee. BLS required.
Two (2) years’ experience as Physician Assistant in a critical care setting required. Some experience with neurological patients preferred.
