Winneshiek Medical Center is an accredited, nonprofit community health system serving northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota since 1914. WMC was named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by the Rural Health Care Association in 2014, is the third largest 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Iowa, and provides hospital, clinic, rehabilitation, home health and hospice services to the region. Through professional and management service agreements with Mayo Clinic Health System, Winneshiek Medical Center benefits from the shared medical expertise of professionals throughout the Mayo system while retaining its rich history as a county-owned medical center.
Clinical care is supported by a full service medical imaging department, including a CT scanner and fixed MRI. State of the art facilities include a birthing center, full service laboratory, same day services department, and customized surgery suites equipped with the most current medical technology. The 24/7 Emergency Department at Winneshiek Medical Center, which also houses Urgent Care services, is staffed by dedicated MCHS emergency medicine physicians. Mayo Clinic Health System hospitalized medical/surgical patients at Winneshiek Medical Center are cared for by a Hospitalist service, which is staffed by the primary care physicians. Additionally, Winneshiek Medical Center supports the largest rehabilitation and sports medicine network in the region, providing a complete care experience for patients.
