Job Description

As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Encompass Health, you'll support patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries in a leading inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Working under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, you'll guide patients through therapeutic exercises, gait and balance training, and functional mobility activities, carefully monitoring and documenting their progress. You'll collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary rehab team, educate patients and families on home programs and safety, and help maintain a safe, well-equipped treatment environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in implementing individualized rehabilitation treatment plans
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility activities
  • Monitor patient progress, document treatments, and report changes to the supervising therapist
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety techniques
  • Prepare and maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas in a safe, clean condition
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehab team to support coordinated patient care
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
