Encompass Health in Amarillo, TX is hiring Physical Therapist Assistants to support comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation. In this role, you will carry out treatment plans designed by physical therapists, delivering therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance work, and functional mobility activities to help patients regain independence after major illness or injury. You will document progress, monitor patient safety, and educate patients and families on home programs and assistive devices. Working within an interdisciplinary, patient-centered team, you'll collaborate closely with PTs, nurses, and physicians. Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in delivering individualized rehabilitation treatments to inpatient and outpatient populations
- Implement therapy plans, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility activities
- Monitor, document, and report patient progress, response to treatment, and any changes in condition
- Instruct patients and families on safe exercises, mobility techniques, and use of assistive devices
- Ensure patient safety, proper equipment use, and adherence to infection control and facility protocols
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PTs, nurses, and physicians to coordinate care
- Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies
- Accurately complete daily notes, billing documentation, and required records in the EMR system
- Support patient-centered goals, encouraging motivation, participation, and independence
- Participate in ongoing training, competency checks, and quality improvement initiatives
