Cherry County Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Technician to provide safe, evidence-based respiratory care to patients across our critical access hospital. In this on-site role, you will administer aerosol and oxygen therapies, perform ventilator checks, monitor patient responses, and assist with arterial blood gases and pulmonary function testing. You'll collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff, educate patients and families, support emergency and critical care situations, and help drive quality, patient-centered outcomes in our rural community-focused setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed respiratory treatments, including aerosol, oxygen, and humidity therapies.
- Assist with setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of ventilators and non-invasive respiratory support equipment.
- Perform and assist with arterial blood gas sampling, basic interpretation, and timely reporting of results.
- Conduct respiratory assessments, documenting patient status and responses in the EMR accurately and promptly.
- Support emergency and acute care situations, including rapid response and code events, under clinician direction.
- Perform basic pulmonary function and bedside respiratory tests as directed.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory medications, equipment use, and home-care instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines to develop and adjust respiratory care plans.
- Follow strict infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies in all respiratory procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement, equipment checks, and inventory management within the respiratory care service.
