Job Description
Wellstar Health System seeks a compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant for our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this on-site role, you'll support Physical Therapists in providing evidence-based rehabilitation, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and functional activities. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, monitoring progress, documenting care in the EMR, and educating patients and families. Responsibilities
- Implement PT treatment plans under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Instruct and assist patients with therapeutic exercises and functional mobility
- Monitor, document, and report patient response and progress in the EMREnsure patient safety, proper body mechanics, and use of assistive devices
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and precautions
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and physicians on coordinated care plans
- Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and infection control standards
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and case conferences as needed
- Support discharge planning with functional status updates and recommendations
- Uphold Wellstar's patient-centered, inclusive care standards
