Job Description

MedStar Health seeks a part-time Pharmacist to deliver safe, patient-centered medication therapy within our regional healthcare system. In this role, you will verify and dispense prescriptions, monitor for drug interactions, and provide counseling that supports optimal outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety
  • Dispense medications and oversee pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance and quality
  • Provide patient counseling on prescriptions, side effects, and proper medication use
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams on medication therapy management
  • Monitor for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications and recommend alternatives
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Participate in medication reconciliation and transitions-of-care activities
  • Support clinical initiatives, quality improvement, and formulary management
  • Educate patients and staff on medication safety and best practices
  • Use pharmacy information systems and technology to optimize workflow and accuracy
