Sterile Processing personnel are responsible for the reprocessing and sterilization of reusable items throughout the hospital, off-site clinics, and vendor instrumentation brought in for physician and patient use. Each tech is responsible for following all steps required in the processing phase which starts with proper decontamination through set assembly, inspection, sterilization, transport and storage.  Monitoring the quality of and ensuring the maintenance of all equipment in SPD. Learn to perform daily efficacy testing of equipment and become an infection prevenionist who ensures the sterility of equipment for the safety of patients, physicians, and staff. Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or GED Two years of experience in sterile processing operations or in a position that has knowledge of and understands the importance of providing sterilized trays of instruments to customers in a timely manner. Description Under the general direction of the SPD Manager and the Management Services Officers (MSO), serve as a SPD instrument technician within the Surgical Supply division of the main operating rooms. Ability to process surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting and assembly and sterilization of instrument trays which are necessary to provide continuous service for all surgical procedure rooms.
