Description The Emergency Department Clerk is responsible for greeting patients as they present to the clerical area, triage area for quick registration or as the clerk enters the room to perform bedside registration.  The clerk is responsible for obtaining accurate registration information, including insurance information and payment arrangements.  The clerk is responsible for answering the telephone and directing all calls to the appropriate party, ensuring accurate order entry functions for all diagnostic testing, generating electronic copies of all patient records, performing all  paperwork functions in the department, and admitting patients to the hospital.  The clerk has full access to confidential patient health information and must act accordingly to ensure such information is made available only to authorized parties.
