Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Phlebotomist I, while u nder the direction of the Accession Area Supervisor, position is to be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients, processing computerized worksheets, entering orders for laboratory tests into the computer terminal and retrieving data in response to inquiries from clinical units concerning tests results. As phlebotomist, ensures proper collection and processing of specimens. Performs routine procedures such as GTT, 2hr PP, blood cultures, and bleeding times. Performs special procedures such as “sweat tests collections”; trains phlebotomy students; assists supervisor in completing Phlebotomy Competency Assessment evaluations of Phlebotomists and Phlebotomy Trainees. Performs all services supplied through the Accession Area.
