The primary purpose of the Assistant Nurse Manager position is to provide management of day-to-day shift operations of inpatient care unit. Directly responsible for daily staffing and reviews daily shift assignments to obtain efficiency and eliminate overtime. Is accessible, approachable and visible to staff; seeks staff input; and serves as clinical mentor. Actively assists staff on routine matters and is first line of response to problem-solve. Ensures clinical competencies of staff and identifies areas in need of improvement. Communicates pertinent information to Nurse Manager. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as a daily board runner to integrate and streamline clinical activities of all members of the Perioperative Services team.
