In addition to providing direct and indirect patient care in the acute nursing departments, the nursing shift supervisor assumes supervisory responsibility for the nursing departments in the absence of management. This job description/evaluation will be used alone unless the evaluator desires to include the med/surg staff nurse, OB staff nurse, ED staff nurse and/or ICU staff nurse job descriptions and evaluations related to nurse also working in one or more of these roles. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: v Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred. v Current registration and licensure in the State of Iowa as a RN. Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing. v Continuing education as required to maintain licensure. v Completion of coronary care/ ICU course.
