The Surgical Triage Assessment and Recovery ( STAR ) Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider ( APP ) functions within the adult ICU areas and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The STAR APP functions primarily managing critically ill adults and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for intensive care interventions. The APP is generally on a service aligned team and manages the day to day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow up in the outpatient setting. The APP also may play a role in the admissions process including ICU triage.
