JOB SUMMARY:
The Cardiovascular Technologist functions as an integral part of the team by participating, implementing and assisting in the care of patients in the Cardiac/Vascular Catheterization Laboratory. Demonstrates technical proficiency for all Cardiac/Vascular Catheterization procedures while functioning in a primary role as a Cardiovascular Scrub Technician or Hemodynamic Recorder. Provides continuous care to all patients with multiple needs.
Dept Info: Around 1000 patients/ procedures each year. Each patient is cared for by a team. The team consists of the physician, CRNA if the physician requests, the RN and Scrub Tech. We do balloon angioplasty, stents, ICDs and pacemakers. We can unblock vessels in the heart, extremities, kidneys. We do imaging of vessels from the brain down to the feet. *NO call
SCHEDULE: Day Shift PRN or as needed with variable hours according to the department
• EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be either a graduate of an accredited School of Radiology Technology or a graduate from an accredited program with an Associates Degree or certificate in an affiliated medical subspecialty or a nationally registered EMT paramedic with a current or previous Alabama license or an experienced emergency room technician.
• BLS certified.

EXPERIENCE:
• One year Special Invasive Procedures experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in field of training.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
• CPR Certified
• Must be either a Registered Technologist in good standing with ARRT, RN in good standings with the Alabama state board of nursing, or a nationally registered EMT paramedic with a current or previous Alabama license.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of hire desired.
• CVT Registered Technologist or Registry Eligible preferred.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, WORK AIDS:
• Fluoroscopic equipment
• Portable C-Arm, Special Procedures equipment, Vascular Power Injector, Computers, Cardiac Cath Lab equipment, Patient therapeutic equipment/machines.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Knowledge of radiographic examinations (age specific), special vascular procedures, cath lab procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of patient transportation methods.
• Good communication skills.
• Good customer service skills.
• Good ethical and professional conduct.
