Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens
Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens Specimen Handling & Processing:
Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens.
Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens Communication:
Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers Customer Service
Uses AIDET as applicable
Attends CARES training.
When necessary, assures proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers.

Adheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards Job Knowledge:
Associate of Arts degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from a CAHEA/NAACLS accredited program; required
ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician, preferred within 12 months after incumbent’s graduation form an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program. Willing to consider 10 yrs of experience in a clinic or hospital laboratory in lieu of certification. NOTE: If ASCP certification has recently lapsed, employee will have 90 days to complete continuing education and recertification requirements If the credential has lapsed >10 yrs, the employee must retake the certification exam. MLTs credentialed prior to 2006 are grandfathered and do not have to complete the continuing education requirement. Medical Laboratory Scientist students in their fourth year of study who have successfully completed a clinical rotation may be hired into PRN MLT position.
Valid Mississippi Driver’s License and acceptable driving record/history; preferred
Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens; required
