Job Description

The Certified Nurse Aide provides compassionate care to individuals and families under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN).



  • Answers and responds to call lights or alarms to determine patients’ needs
  • Bathes, dresses and undresses patients
  • Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients that require help.
  • Transports patients or assists patients to walk
  • Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown
  • Changes bed linens, runs errands within the hospital, directs visitors and answers telephones
  • Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates, food and fluid intake and output, as directed
  • Performs patient accu-checks and reports results appropriately
  • Straightens patient rooms as necessary and makes sure the walkways are free of clutter to provide an environment to assist in fall prevention.
  • Document in electronic medical record as necessary
  • Report changes in patient status or needs to licensed personnel in a timely manner
  • Supports and participates in department performance improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned or delegated by licensed personnel

Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools.


Education and/or Experience: Completion of an approved Oklahoma Nurse Aide Training program, or previous health care related experience, or other related experience or training. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Certification by the Oklahoma State Health Department and registration as a Certified Nurse Aide preferred; American Heart Association BLS required; may have up to 30 days from date of hire to earn BLS. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
