Research Associate IEEM – Pulmonary Physiology Lab – Fulltime Fast-paced, high volume IEEM department is looking for top Research Associates. Is that you? Work location: Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine (IEEM), 7232 Greenville Ave, Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75231 Work hours: Fulltime; Monday-Friday (8:00a – 4:30p: 8-hour shifts per day plus 30 minute lunch) Position Highlights: Research Associate in the Cardiopulmonary Physiology Lab of the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine (IEEM). Lab Website: https://www.texashealth.org/ieem/Research/Pulmonary-Physiology-Laboratory The focus of the Pulmonary Physiology Lab is on the respiratory effects of obesity in adults, children, and heart failure patients. Here’s What You Need · Bachelor’s Degree Exercise Physiology, Human Physiology, Kinesiology, or other science related discipline required. Master’s degree preferred. · Successful applicants will have excellent communication, strong organizational, outstanding critical problem solving, and robust technical skills. · Previous experience or completion of a research project course including data management analysis preferred. · Efficient in word processing, database, graphics, and spreadsheet applications. · Experience with computer-based gas exchange and pulmonary function programs helpful. Ability to learn new software systems critical. · BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required. If not BCLS certified, be willing to get this certification shortly after hiring. What You Will Do · Operate all pulmonary function and exercise lab equipment. · Coordinate, implement and direct research and clinical exercise/respiratory protocols as assigned. · Collect and analyze data as it pertains to research and/or clinical studies. · Explain research study purpose to participants. · Clearly instruct the participant as to the protocol of testing, allow ample opportunity for questions and concerns; consult the investigator or physician regarding risks or further details. · Able to explain test procedures, objectives, and conditions associated with research or clinical protocols to ensure proper data collection. · Assist with protocol set-up, data collection, protocol tear down, and data analysis. · Candidate will have the opportunity to participate in experimental design; data collection, analysis, and interpretation; and preparation of oral and written presentations.
