Provides respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Performs diagnostic testing of cardiovascular and pulmonary system to aide physicians in diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders. Demonstrates competence in working with neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: v Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. v Current Registration and Licensure in the State of Iowa as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. v Continuing education as required to maintain licensure. v Completion of Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). v Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. v High degree of empathetic listening skills, tact and kindness toward others. v Ability to communicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team. v Basic computer knowledge v Technical and critical thinking skills. v Knowledge of all therapeutic modalities relating to Respiratory Care
