The primary purpose of the Chief Technologist position is to perform routine and specialized functions for the Division of Chemistry/Biochemistry under the direction of the Director and/or designee. Assists the Director in the operation of the Section through supervision and/or performance of proper laboratory tests, oversees budget expenses, general administrative supervision, maintaining proper regulatory protocols, and other assigned duties. Bachelor’s Degree plus M.T. (ASCP) or equivalent and three (3) years of experience as a medical technologist, including one (1) year of supervisory experience required. Candidates who do not have the ASCP certification will be considered but must attain certification within one (1) year of hire. Credentials required: Bachelor’s Degree; MT certification or equivalent Primary source verification: American Society for Clinical Pathologists, University Hospital's designated Background Check Company PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires walking, standing, sitting 2/3 of the time. Must have the ability to lift up to (25) pounds 1/3 of the time. Vision requirements are the ability to adjust to focus, have peripheral vision, and differentiate colors.
