The Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) is an experienced clinician who demonstrates expert knowledge of general hematology/oncology, incorporating knowledge of general internal medicine and medical complications unique to hematology/oncology patients. The Satellite NP/PA works closely with the collaborating physician as well as other members of multidisciplinary teams at DFCI Foxborough satellite clinic to develop and coordinate a plan of care for patients. This role requires the ability to quickly assimilate to a new environment and foster team relationships at each site. NP Qualifications: Authorization to practice in an expanded role as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners Minimum of 24 contact hours beyond generic education in pharmacotherapeutics Master’s degree in Nursing Minimum of 1 year Nurse Practitioner experience required Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience preferred In possession of Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Federal DEA numbers Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred - OCN, AOCN, CPON PA Qualifications: Master’s degree and successful completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program required NCCPA Certified Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts Must maintain current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses Complete 100 hours of CME according to national and state regulations during each 2-year period of employment Minimum 1 year of professional PA experience required PA I: Minimum 1-year professional Physician Assistant experience PA II: 2 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience PA III: 5 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to collaborate with others at the Institute as well as external institutions and agencies Critical thinking skills Understanding of research principles and practices and leadership that improves the quality of care and advances nursing/medical care within the Institute and throughout the community.
